. CYFARWYDD .
Cyfarwydd, (pronounced: cuv-ahrr-oeth) is the Welsh (Brythonic~old British) word for storyteller. The root of the word means to give guidance. Furthermore, the word is one and the same as the old Welsh (Brythonic) word for magic. Storytelling then, may have been considered a kind of enchantment; narrative spells that transport the listener to a place where the deep truths of the tale can work magic on listening ears, on an open heart, on the receptive soul.

Angharad's story
Angharad Wynne is an acclaimed storyteller, writer, teacher, speaker and expedition leader. Since childhood, she has followed her feet along pathways back through the portals of ancient myth, folklore, song and poetry of Britain, particularly of her native Wales, drawing together the tattered fragments of the ancient lore of this land.
Having studied Anglo-Saxon, Creative Writing and Archaeology at university, and published her first book (in Welsh) at 23 years old, none were as surprised as she when a twist of fate led her to a master’s degree in international marketing and a career in communications. After leading roles in three high-profile Millennium projects, three years in London in the crucible of preparations for the Millennium celebrations, two in New York for the British Government in the lead up to and the aftermath of 9/11 - the green shoots of her own creativity began to find their way through the concrete cracks. It emerged as storytelling, poetry, writing, creative pilgrimage and the creation of the successful Return to Centre retreat series for women.
Alongside steering her own cultural communications consultancy with clients including Universal Classics, Decca and Real World Records, a string of internationally renowned classical and world music virtuosos, over the past fifteen years, Angharad has nurtured her own creative work. This has taken form in writing and performing a number of high-profile storytelling shows, including Talisman, Tair, The Story Tree and Tant performed in festivals across Europe and the US, and the critically acclaimed Wales-India collaboration, ‘Hands of Time’, with Indian folk and classical musicians.
Angharad is a member of the Wisdom Keepers: Reigniting Ancient Ways collective and creator of Dadeni, a programme that re-members and explores the native spiritual traditions of Britain. She is a co-founder of Chwedl, a network of women storytellers in Wales and Animate Earth, a new international animism collective of teachers, facilitators, thinkers, scientists and writers. She regularly speaks at events and festivals across Europe on these and related matters.
Angharad continues to delight in drawing together the fragments of our tradition that can help guide and sustain a living spiritual practice, connected to this land and her creatures. Her retreats and creative works are are conceived as radical acts of re-membering our soulful, deep humanity and re-weaving ourselves back into fully engaged participation within the web of life.
